Wander through Durban and explore its beautiful urban culture. Famous for its beaches, the city centre has so much to offer too! There's no better way to be shown the city than to be led by a local. Explore the hidden gems and local culture that you won't find in the average city map or guidebook.

This is a combo tour package including a 2-day Western Cape tour and 5-day Garden Route tour; your vehicle, guide and tour members can change during the trip.

Day 1: Durban
Arriving at the airport of Continue to the southernmost tip of Africa at Durban, where you will spend the night at a 3-star guesthouse or 4-star hotel depending of the package you prefer.

Day 2: Inner City Walking Tour
Choose how you want to spend your morning: Relax in Hermanus or uncovering the little-known treasures of Durban on a 4-hour insider walking tour. Learn about Durban's fascinating history from your savvy guide and see a side of the city you won’t find in guidebooks.

Walk through streets and alleyways, interacting with locals as you go. Experience the history of Durban and the culture of its citizens from a grassroots level. Visit must-see destinations such as the Priority Zone, the Gugu Dlamini Park, Juma Masjid Mosque, and the Old and New City Hall. Walk into Dr Pixley Ka Same street – the heart of the inner city – before exploring the hustle and bustle of the antique Victoria Street Market and Muthi Market. Soak up the sights, sounds and smells of this fascinating place. Then hop in a local taxi back to the venue.

Day 3: Culinary Walking Tour
Meet your local guide and get ready to dive into Durban's mouthwatering culinary scene. A scenic coastal city known for its African and Indian cultural influences, Durban is full of flavors, sights, and smells that are sure to awaken your appetite and tickle your fancy.

Start by walking to the first location at the heart of the city's Indian community. Breathe in the fresh aromas of spices and various Indian cuisines on offer. Taste local favorites like Bunny Chows, Samoosa, and Roti. Continue walking and stop in to an urban garden in the area where you can check out some of the herbs and produce that are grown locally.

Your next stop will immerse you in Zulu food and culture. Try some delicious Shisa Nyama, which translated literally, is the Zulu term for barbecuing (“burn the meat”). While the name may not be so poetic, the taste certainly is. After indulging in this tender, hot, and flavorful dish, sip on a cool beer and listen as your guide tells you about the history of Zulu culture in Durban.

Day 4: Shakaland Full-Day Tour (optional)
Explore the village and open-air museum of Shakaland, which is still supervised by the local Zulu chief. Learn about Zulu culture and their customs, including the craftsmanship that goes into making spears, shields, and pots. Observe their skilled beadwork and pot-making and watch them build their huts, grind maize, and prepare food.

Sample traditional Zulu beer, which is an important component of local festivities. Watch Zulu dancers and drummers as they perform the traditional Zulu War Dance, and meet a realisangoma(traditional healer). This will be followed by a delicious lunchtime feast in the village.

Day 5: Golden Mile, Botanical Gardens
Spend a full day discovering the diverse culture and history of Durban and visiting the city’s sights. This is the ideal introductory tour of Durban, which has been shaped by the early Colonial settlers, the indigenous Zulus and the Indians who arrived as indentured laborers in the 19th Century.

Travel along the Golden Mile, the revitalized beachfront promenade, viewing the upgraded Point Waterfront. The tour then travels through the City, viewing the majestic City Hall and the small craft harbor. Afterwards, drive past the sugar terminals and harbor warehouses on the way to the University of Natal for the view below. Then the tours visits the bustling African/Indian Markets at Warwick Triangle – home to 9 distinct markets developed around Durban’s largest public transport interchange.

The tour ends with a visit to the peaceful Durban Botanic Gardens, founded in 1849 and the Moses Mabhida Stadium (Optional cable car ride for own account to the top of the Stadium for that phenomenal view of Durban).

Day 6: Paradise Valley & Durban Natural Science Museum
Today we offer an morning walk on the paradise Valley or just chill out and go for a walk in the forest. The Paradise Valley Nature Reserve, 100 hectares of coastal and remnant grassland, boasts one of the two national monuments to be found in Pinetown – The Umbilo Waterworks, which were built in 1887. All four of the trails in the reserve start at the Interpretive Centre and head down through the picnic area.
After our expoloration the day continue with a stop in Natural Science Museum.(DNSM) is one of the oldest and most popular museums in South Africa. As the only natural science museum in South Africa falling under local government, the EThekwini Municipality, it has dynamic and innovative research and education programmes with a particular emphasis on biodiversity conservation and ecology. Later in the afternoon return to the hotel, relax and get ready for tomorrow fly.

Day 7: Durban- Airport
Enjoy a free day and the facilities of your hotel till time arrive and we will travel back to Durban International Airport for a late evening arrival.
